Shivani’s Mysterious Death in Mumbai Sparks Dowry Murder Allegations; Family Demands Strict Action

The deceased, Shivani, was a resident of Khargaura village under Aasiwan Police Station limits in Unnao district. She was married to Sanjay, a resident of Fatehpur village under Safipur Police Station limits, on November 16, 2025. Following the marriage, Shivani moved to Mumbai and was living with her husband in the Kamla Nehru Nagar area. According to her family members, she had travelled to Mumbai with her husband approximately one month ago.

On Sunday, Mumbai Police informed Shivani’s family about her death. After receiving the information, her relatives travelled to Mumbai, where an autopsy was conducted on the body. The body was subsequently brought back to Unnao. On Tuesday, a second post-mortem examination was initiated in Unnao to establish the precise cause of death and verify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The deceased woman’s family has accused her in-laws of repeatedly demanding additional dowry after the marriage. According to the allegations, Shivani was being pressured to bring Rs 2 lakh in cash and an Apache motorcycle from her parental home. Family members claimed that she was subjected to physical abuse when these demands were not fulfilled.

The family further stated that Shivani was approximately four months pregnant at the time of her death. They alleged that her death was not natural and accused her in-laws of harassing and ultimately killing her. The family has demanded stringent legal action against those responsible.

Aasiwan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Pradeep stated that further action would be taken based on the post-mortem report and other available evidence. Investigators are currently examining all aspects of the case as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to the young woman’s death.

The case has drawn attention due to the serious allegations of dowry harassment, physical abuse, and the death of a pregnant woman under suspicious circumstances. The outcome of the investigation and forensic findings is expected to play a crucial role in determining accountability and the course of legal proceedings.
